A MEMBER IN THE INIATIVE FOR FAIRTRADE
Northug is a member of Fairtrade Norway (EHN). This means that we are commited to work for trade which promotes human rights, employee rights, development and the environment. Fairtrade Norway (EHN) is a member-based resource and competence association for fair trade consisting of companies, activities in the business sector and organisations. The aim is to cooperate in trade which promotes human rights, employee rights, development and the environment. Membership of EHN commits members to work on concrete and focused improvements over time.
CODE OF CONDUCT
We work closely with our factories and when we enter into new partnerships then all parties are obliged to sign our Code of Conduct. This is based on the guidelines set out by the International Labour Organization (ILO). The agreements provide for a good working environment, without any child labour, discrimination or retribution. It is also committed to guarantee fair wages and a safe working environment.
We also place great demands on the factories taking action to minimise the harmful effects on people’s health and environment. This includes reducing pollution, promoting the effective and sustainable use of ressources such as energy and water and minimising greenhouse gas emissions in its production and transport.
